Soaring High with Self Esteem

How resilient are children during COVID 19? Children can experience anxiety or even times of depression and low self esteem during this pandemic. Children can become more confident of themselves during a time of crisis when they have clear and solid pillars of self esteem to keep them SHINING! Parents, educators, caregivers can give students actions and skills to improve their child’s self esteem and mental health during COVID 19. Helping students to develop a positive image is so important during times of uncertainty.

One point to focus on is the clear fact that self esteem is the way we think about ourselves, how we feel about ourselves and how we then act upon these thoughts and feelings. Children during COVID 19 or any type of crisis are in need of critical help with how they feel about themselves. Isolation will only lead to depression.

The second point deals with the acceptance of ourselves in order to create a healthy self self-esteem. Children want to be treated with respect and the more they believe that they are worthy of respect their self esteem will soar!

The third point is self confidence. Children need to know that they deserve good things in life. Even during uncertain times, children will need to be affirmed that they matter.

So now that we know more about self esteem during a crisis, what might we want to be sure takes place when our students return to school in order to ensure their mental health. What resources do we need to start looking at now to support children and parents in the home environment?
